Many project types require interior walls that meet critical performance criteria. The focus of this presentation is on achieving high performing construction joints made up of interior stud walls meeting flat deck concrete or concrete over metal deck. Upon completing this course, the participant will understand considerations for proper selection and design of non-load-bearing walls and have a basic understanding of firestopping. Codes and standards for fire rated construction joints, design and acoustic considerations for construction joints and specification and detailing of firestop for joint applications will also be discussed. - On-Demand

On-Demand offering so you can learn how to design steel deck and concrete-filled roof deck with the new Diaphragm Design module in PROFIS Engineering. An overview of the module is provided, along with a demonstration of how to create and optimize diaphragm designs with multiple areas and zones, deck panel types, joist or beam supports, and multiple loads for shear, wind, or stiffness – available now on Hilti’s PROFIS Engineering suite. - series

Learn how you can design post installed rebar with the Concrete-to-Concrete module in PROFIS Engineering. We will review general functionality and demonstrate options within the software to select anchoring-to-concrete provisions, development length provisions, and research-based design options. - series

Learn how you can design post installed anchors into masonry in the PROFIS Engineering software. We will review general functionality and demonstrate options within the software to design per the Load & Resistance Factored Design (LRFD) method. - On-Demand

This course explains the need for firestop and provides an overview of how the model building codes are addressing the issue. Attendees should understand what firestopping is and why it’s needed, know the applicable code requirements related to firestop, and understand firestop system testing and listing for penetrations, joints and perimeter fire barrier. There will also be discussion about how firestopping fits into the specification, design and construction process. - series

For concrete and masonry structures, engineers can use ACI/TMS 216.1 Code Requirements for Determining Fire Resistance of Concrete and Masonry Construction Assemblies to examine how cast-in building structural elements will be affected by exposure to the high temperatures of a fire. In this session, we will discuss how engineers can account for these fire and high heat conditions in their post-installed reinforcing bar designs for concrete-to-concrete connections. We will also review the new optional fire load test included in the Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements (AC308) and discuss how constant or variable temperature gradients within the concrete base material may impact development lengths and adhesive selection.

Within structural steel frame buildings, there are many applications that require the need for attaching an element to structural steel members, from piping/cable tray support systems to equipment fastening to floor grating systems. In this session, we will discuss the traditional methods and introduce innovative fastening systems for attaching to structural steel members. We will also review the various influence factors to evaluate when selecting an appropriate fastening method. - On-Demand

The moisture condition of concrete has been defined by ACI 318-19 Chapter 26 as a key parameter that needs to be considered during the design and specification of adhesive anchors. Dry concrete, water-saturated concrete, and water-filled holes may have different strength reduction factors which can impact the bond strength of the adhesive and may cause jobsite issues if not accounted for in the design process. - series

Temperature is a key design consideration, as outlined by ACI 318-19 Chapter 26, in the selection and specification of adhesive anchors due to the impact of temperature on bond strength. Extended curing times or too short working times from cold or hot working conditions can impact adhesive installation, jobsite timelines, and bond strength of the adhesive which may not have been accounted for in the design phase of the connection. - series
