Safety
General safety rules
- Check the condition of the tool before use. If damaged, have the tool repaired by Hilti Service.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when working. Do not use the device while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating the device can result in serious personal injury.
- Comply with national health and safety requirements.
- Keep children and other persons away from your working area while the device is in use.
- Do not expose the product to rain or moisture. Penetrating moisture can cause short circuits, electrical shock, burns or explosions.
- Do not render safety devices ineffective and do not remove information and warning notices.
- After falling from considerable height, the tool should be checked for correct, accurate operation.
- Keep the detection area clean to avoid measurement errors. Do not touch the detection area with your fingers.
- Handle the tool carefully.
- Allow the tool to dry before putting it into storage.
- Readings taken in the vicinity of reflective objects or surfaces, through panes of glass or similar materials can falsify the result of measurement.
- Make sure that the device is positioned on a stable surface where it is not exposed to vibration.
- Make sure that no other laser measuring tool that can influence your measurements is in use in the vicinity.
- Do not work with surveyor's staffs in the vicinity of high-voltage electricity cables.
- Make sure that the device can acclimatize whenever it is moved from a very cold to a very warm environment or vice versa.
- Note that when two or more lasers are used in the same working zone, the laser receiver can detect only one laser source at a time.
- Do not hold the laser receiver close to your ears. The volume of the laser receiver can cause injury and hearing loss.
Electrical safety
- Keep the batteries out of reach of children.
- Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures, direct sunlight or fire. Do not disassemble, crush or incinerate the batteries and do not expose them to temperatures above 80 °C; toxic substances can be released.
- Do not attempt to charge batteries that have suffered mechanical damage or been dropped, or that evince signs of damage. In this case, contact Hilti Service.
- Do not charge the batteries.
- Do not solder the batteries into the tool.
- Do not discharge the batteries by short-circuiting. The batteries may get hot, presenting a risk of personal injury (burns).
- Do not attempt to open the batteries and do not subject them to excessive mechanical stress.
- Make sure that the batteries are correctly installed in the device.
- There is a possibility that the batteries are damaged if they are too hot. In this case, keep the device well away from flammable materials and place it where it can be kept under observation and can cool down. In this case, contact Hilti Service.
- Strong magnetic fields can impair the accuracy of the device. Consequently, make sure that no objects that can create magnetic fields are in the vicinity of the laser receiver.
Electromagnetic compatibility
Although the device complies with the strict requirements of the applicable directives, Hilti cannot entirely rule out the possibility of interference to the device caused by powerful electromagnetic radiation, possibly leading to incorrect operation. Check the accuracy of the device by taking measurements by other means when working under such conditions, or if you are unsure. Likewise, Hilti cannot rule out the possibility of interference with other devices (e.g. aircraft navigation equipment).Description
