For normal-weight concrete, does the factor λa still need to be applied in the anchor design equation?

For normal-weight concrete, does the factor λa still need to be applied in the anchor design equation?

Hi,
In the Canadian design code for concrete structures, CSA A23.3-19, a modification factor for lightweight concrete, λa, is incorporated in the anchor design equations of concrete breakout under tension and shear. Does λa need to be applied in the equations when the concrete is of normal weight?
Thank you for your attention.

Peng

Hi Peng,

The modification factor for lightweight concrete (λa) can be taken as 1.0 if applied to normal weight concrete.
