Pull-Out Strength for Hilti Self-Drilling SS Screw

Referring to ICC-ES ESR-4786, Tables 3 & 4, the strength of S-MD 12-14 x 2 & 2 1/2 with Minimum Thickness of Supporting Steel Member = 0.25" is blank. If I want to fasten (2) - 1/4" thick steel members together do I have to use a 4" long screw?

Hi Garry,

For fastening steel-steel supports with the S-MD, please see our ordering information tables on page 220 of the Anchor Fastening Technical Guide.

These tables will have information on the maximum drilling capacity and maximum total thickness to aid you in determining a suitable thread length for your application.
