X-U Fasteners and required length
Hi, I am looking to specify X-U fasteners to attach a 38mm (1/2") piece of lumber to a 9.5mm (3/8") piece of steel. What length of fasteners should be used?
And are fasteners meant to pierce the steel, or mushroom and weld to it?

For wood to steel connections please refer to section 3.2.2.4 on page 24 of the Direct Fastening technical guide to help with your selection. Kindly see the X-U 47 with technical supplement and approval document ICC-ESR 2269 to evaluate suitability and compatibility in your application.
